This is your chance to tell the European Commission to ban all cigarette filters!
Single-use plastic products are suffocating our oceans. They are a direct threat to marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and human health. In 2019, the European Commission introduced the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) to tackle this crisis and protect our coastlines. While the directive successfully banned many of the most littered items (cutlery, straws, and more), it didn’t include a ban on cigarette filters. Despite being one of the most frequently found litter on our beaches, cities and in nature, they remain exempt from the ban.
The time for change is now. The SUPD is being evaluated, and the European Commission is listening. This is our opportunity to demand an improved directive that includes a total ban on cigarette filters. The public consultation is open until March 17th, 2026. Let’s make our voices heard!
