That is why they increasingly support a cigarette filter ban.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Increasing support&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Seven large and small Dutch municipalities signed the call: Venlo, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Arnhem, Diemen and Mook en Middelaar. Several other local governments are in the process of signing. Aldermen and policy officers meet with their colleagues in The Hague and Brussels to discuss cigarette filter pollution.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Letter sent to all Dutch municipalities<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No (Plastic) Filter has spoken to approximately forty municipalities in recent months, receiving a lot of support for the campaign. Volunteer Maurice van der Ven, an enthusiastic litter picker next to his daytime job, offered to send a <a href=\"https:\/\/noplasticfilter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/20251203-Brief-gemeenteraden.pdf\">letter<\/a> to the registries of all remaining 300 municipalities of the Netherlands in December 2025. The letters were forwarded to the city councils. In the first quarter of 2026 we\u2019re expecting many municipalities to reach out to us, or join the campaign!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Call on your municipality to sign too<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Get your local government to <a href=\"https:\/\/noplasticfilter.org\/?support=true\">sign<\/a> the call as well. Use our <a href=\"https:\/\/noplasticfilter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/20251203-Brief-gemeenteraden.pdf\">letter to the local registry<\/a>, or copy the <a href=\"https:\/\/utrecht.bestuurlijkeinformatie.nl\/Document\/View\/cab68430-68eb-4807-b5eb-bd6f5e979c75\">motion<\/a> that was passed in the council of Utrecht.
